I suspect many of us feel helpless, and would contribute a small amount to reduce this debt, given the opportunity. 140 million individuals file taxes each year. The United States income tax form should have a check-off to donate $1 to the national debt. If half of all taxpayers donated, it would increase citizen contributions by almost 10 times.
