Add the striation pattern of guns to the federal data base along with the registration numbers. When crimes are committed, the bullets could be traced by the registration to the owner of the gun. Now we have to hope the gun has been used a crime and we hope look in the right city's log. This would also aid in making people responsible for their guns.
