According to President Obama's Renewable Energy Programs we are developing centralised Solar Power Plants thus "investment in clean energy – the largest in American history – [in] the United States has more than doubled ... since 2008."
"Since 2009, the Department of Interior has approved 25 utility-scale ... facilities, ... creating an estimated 17,000 jobs."
Great, however centralized power in all it's forms leads to corruption plus the power has to be distributed.
Why not put the power production on people's homes and factories, etc., where it is used by providing investment to install Solar Electric Panels for direct production at the point of use.
Decentralized production requires no distribution infrastructure other than the existing grid and will create even more long term jobs.
