Breast cancer continues to be a killer of men and women and early detection is vital for survival. We are able to have yearly screening mammograms as part of our preventive care by the Affordable Care Act. However, if the findings of a screening mammogram causes concerns for the doctor or radiologist, they will ask for a more detailed mammogram called a diagnostic mammogram. This is simply the same test with more views and at higher magnification. This is often NOT covered under preventative care and is extremely expensive. The high cost would likely lead to many dying because they couldn't afford to get the test taken that may have saved their lives. I am petitioning to have all types of mammograms treated as preventative and therefore covered under the ACA.
