The National Debt on Jan 1st 1791 was just $75 million dollars. Today, it rises by that amount every hour or so. On Jan 15th 2004, the Outstanding Public Debt jumped $13 billion to $7 trillion. This was the first time in history the US National Debt surpassed the $7 trillion mark and less than two years after the Debt first passed $6 trillion. On October 18th 2005, the Outstanding Public Debt rose to $8 trillion -- the first time it had risen above 8 trillion. In the next 10 years it more than doubled to almost 19 trillion with no possible opportunities to show lowering it. This amounts to the following: $58,361 for every person & $151,100 for every household. Also it equals 539% of annual federal revenues.
