Add an Exemption to the Crowdfunding limitation on individual investors in the Jobs Act of 2012 for Savvy Investors

Created by A.H. on June 18, 2013

The Jobs Act of 2012 continues the odd tradition of barring individual investors from investing in small start-up companies unless they are an accredited investors (meeting the financial requirements) or invest below the very low monetary threshold. It seems unusual that if Americans want to leverage their net worth on student loans, credit cards, or homes there is no monetary threshold. Please allow an exemption for financially savvy investors that can demonstrate their understanding of investing through a mandated examination. Allow us access to wealth creation that has been reserved for the wealthiest 1%. If the likes of Kim Kardashian is allowed to invest in the likes of Facebook when it was a start-up, a CPA or other financially savvy investor should be able to as well.
