add the following question to standardized tests: "Does your parent(s) help you with your homework and help you study?"

Created by J.V. on November 28, 2011

We use standardized tests to evaluate the quality of teachers. I think this is a good idea, but there are some potential drawbacks. One drawback is that these tests do not take into account the amount of effort parents put into helping their children do homework and study. It does not matter how much effort a teacher puts in- if a parent is not going to do homework with their child and help their child study, then the child will have a hard time learning. This will reflect poorly on the teacher, which is not fair to the teacher. Therefore, I think it is important, when evaluating how well a teacher is doing, to include information about how much effort the teacher's students' parents are putting in.
