Add gender neutral honorific "Mx" to all federal forms

Created by J.H. on August 31, 2015

We petition the President to use all legal executive powers to immediately incorporate the gender-neutral honorific "Mx" into all federal forms and methods of identification, for U.S. citizens and others. The gender-neutral title "Mx" has been added to the single most authoritative source for the English language, Oxford English Dictionary. "Mx" is widely accepted by government in the United Kingdom. Adopting "Mx" would, if implemented by the U.S. federal government, address the issue of restrictive gender identification for at least several million U.S. citizens who do not fall into "Mr.", "Mrs.," or "Ms." categories. It is a basic aspect of equal protection under the 14th Amendment that citizens be able treated equally; we insist that this includes equality in gender identification.
