As we all know. Crimes involving guns seem to be overwhelming the nightly news. Nowhere in proposed gun control legislation, is any mention of dealing with persons in possession of unlawful weapons.
Recommendation: Harsher sentencing for those found in possession of an unregistered or stolen weapon.
Sentencing must be harsh, swift and without opportunities for pleas or parole.
Since the federal government has begun outsourcing prisons to private corporations who require 90% occupancy, the excuse that prisons are overcrowded is a misnomer. Prisons ARE overcrowded, however are crowded with minor drug crimes that are less dangerous to a society than illegal weapons.
