According to the Centers for Disease Control,
"Studies have shown that, when compared with the general population, gay and bisexual men, lesbian, and transgender individuals are more likely to:
Use alcohol and drugs,
Have higher rates of substance abuse,
Not withhold from alcohol and drug use, and
Continue heavy drinking into later life.
Yet the Office of National Drug Control Policy limits their special populations without regards to LGBT. They state:
"While drug addiction respects no geographic, ethnic, economic, or social boundaries, there are some specific populations that deserve focused efforts, including
Military, Veterans, and Families
Women, Children, and Families
Colleges and Universities
Native Americans and Alaskan Natives"
It's time for inclusion.
