Add LGTBI citizens to the list of protected classes under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Title VII protects an individual’s race, color, religion, sex, or national origin within the Civil Rights Act. It is time to add LGBTI (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex) individuals to the list of protected classes under Title VII. The amount of legal discrimination that takes place because of an individual's expression of gender or sexual orientation is unacceptable. If service members can now serve openly in the Armed Forces, they should not have to worry about being denied employment or getting fired because of their sexuality or gender in civilian employment. Making LGTBI individuals a protected class under Title VII would ensure the rights they are afforded as citizens of the United States are upheld in the workplace, without contestation from narrow-minded employers.
