Add mandatory, harsh (30 year) sentences to anyone convicted of committing a crime using a firearm of any kind.

This measure would only affect those who use their firearms to commit crimes and would not infringe on any "right to bear arms" which is supposedly guaranteed by the 2nd amendment, even though we have a standing militia (National Guard). This would be a definite deterrent if it was enforced.
