I propose a middle-of-the-ground idea for the requirement of a new type of Federal Firearms License (FFL) to purchase firearms. It will follow a similar process to the current 03 Curios and Relics FFL. The license will last for three years, cost the same as the Curios and Relics FFL ($30), and be renewable at the end of the three year period. To acquire the license, one must acquire forms from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and then wait roughly two or three months for processing and background checks. This will act to prevent mass violence while protecting the right to bear arms per the Second Amendment.
