Too many politicians involved with religious organizations are using their religious stance to aid in their campaigns for political office. This is already technically unconstitutional, as it does not separate church from state, but it isn't explicitly "not allowed".
The practice of running "with god on [your] side" should not be allowed, as religion has nothing to do with government, and is explicitly intended to be separate.
Removing religion from the conversation will open the floor for actual issues, and we can vote based on political merit. This is an essential step in reforming the current administration. Prayers before political meetings, and references to deities in public settings are prohibited not only in holy texts (the bible) but also in the United States constitution.
