With previous legislation in Arizona, proposed legislation in Georgia, and the most recent "Bathroom Bill" in North Carolina, it has become clear that the blatant attacks on LGBTQ groups in certain state governments have reached unacceptable levels.
In order to protect all of our citizens from discrimination, not only by their peers, but also from their own representatives, we ask that the administration use whatever means available, including Executive Action, to add Sexual orientation and gender identity to the list of protected classes.
Particularly, one must look at recent decisions to allow same sex marriage as a precedent for allowing equal rights to LGBTQ groups, which have alrady begun to be passed in cities across the country.
