Add a tax credit between $3,000-$5,000 to the VOW to Hire Heroes Act, for businesses that commit to Joining Forces

Created by J.V. on March 16, 2015

The Vow to Hire Veterans Act of 2011 is a great step forward in assisting service members, veterans, and their families towards obtaining employment. However, I propose an addendum to the Work Opportunity Tax Credit, which would appeal to a broader number of businesses.

I am recommending a tax credit of $5,000 for businesses that solely commit to the Joining Forces initiative, posting at least 10 jobs in the Veterans Job Bank (eBenefits) per year, maintains a presence at job fairs in their own State held by organizations in accordance with the local Veterans Administration offices; and participate in virtual veteran job fairs. If they hire veterans, the existing tax credits will apply. This combo will have a greater effect on the mission of the Vow Act.
