We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

Add text from the Emancipation Proclamation to the Lincoln Memorial

Created by C.L. on October 24, 2016

As Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation and is known as the Great Emancipator we feel the builders of his memorial were remiss in failing to include the central text from that excutive order upon the structure. We petition that the words "And by virtue of the power, and for the purpose aforesaid, I do order and declare that all persons held as slaves within said designated States, and parts of States, are, and henceforward shall be free; and that the Executive government of the United States, including the military and naval authorities thereof, will recognize and maintain the freedom of said persons" be added to the memorial.
