The marrying couple can submit all documents and lower fees 4 to 6 months before the wedding and have the interview when they have the marriage certificate. This way they will not have to be apart for 5 or more months after marrying. There needs to be a guarantee for the visa once the application has been approved as well. If the visa is denied the application fees need to be returned to the payee. with a $25 to $50 initial processing fee that is not refundable.
