Add A Third Gender Option To The US Census For Transgender People

Created on April 24, 2016

To The US Census Bureau:

As the United States has been growing in recent years in its acceptance and inclusiveness of the transgender community, we are noticing more necessity and capability to allow this community to be included in national statistical analysis.

Data collected in the US Census is used by organizations and governmental agencies to determine populations, demographics, and the needs in different parts of the country. The Transgender Rights Movement and our peers believe that counting transgender people in the US Census will help us to better provide for our community.

The best way to do this is to add a third option to the US Census in the area of identifying one's sex. A third sex marker option allows transgender people to be counted as US Citizens.

Thank you.
