add veteran hiring requirements to grants awarded to non-profits. Meaningful work for veterans will save lives

Created by D.A. on December 18, 2014

Non-profit organizations that receive U.S. grants should be held to the same standard as federal contractors, who must make a demonstrated effort to hire a certain percentage of veterans. Keep Serving believes there is an opportunity for veterans to find meaningful purpose working for non-profits. We have witnessed the outstanding impact that skilled veterans can have on the objectives of non-profits around the world.

Veterans are compassionate and highly trained. Yet twenty-two U.S. veterans commit suicide each day. Many struggle to find purpose after leaving the military. This petition will help bridge the gap between what veterans and non-profits need to make a meaningful impact. We need to ensure that our grant policies help veterans continue to Keep Serving. (ref.
