We the people ask the federal government to Change an existing Administration policy:

Add volunteer firefighting to the list of groups eligible for student loan forgiveness

Created by D.W. on August 03, 2016

As of January 2016, 69% of the firefighters in America are volunteers. These men and women serve selflessly in their communities in ways that most people can't imagine. The cost of the commitment and sacrifices they make in order to train and respond to emergencies is immeasurable. The number of volunteers is declining rapidly, and new incentives are needed to draw volunteers back to our firehouses. The debt that our nation's young college graduates are saddled with is a major drain on the economy and their individual prospects. There are already programs in existence to forgive loan debt for service to the community. We seek to add volunteer firefighters, who risk their lives for their communities, to the list of those eligible for loan forgiveness.
