Adding the Ability to Text 911 Could Save Lives

Created by A.E. on September 28, 2013

The ability to text emergency services can save lives.
Some situations in which texting is better are listed below.
-sometimes people need to get help without making noise
-in areas with bad reception a text is more likely to get through
-better for deaf and non-verbal people.
Deaf and non-verbal citizens, who know sign language, are capable of getting help through the current system thanks to companies that will connect them to an interpreter and then to 911, but that extra time for that connection could be crucial.
Better altogether for them to be able to contact emergency services directly.
