The White House recently released a statement condemning Representative Amash's proposal to defund certain NSA programs, claiming that it was "not the product of an informed, open or deliberative process."
To be clear, the White House is defending a secret surveillance program, authorized by a secret court, in secret rulings that cannot even be read by the general public. Moreover, the director of National Intelligence openly lied about the programs in sworn Congressional testimony, meaning the existence of the programs came to light only after leaks to the press.
Simply put, how can the administration have the audacity to claim that opponents of domestic surveillance are the ones not operating in the open when you have been misleading the American people every step of the way?
