With a high rate of obesity, we should think in our children. Bike paths on a national level will provide a safe way for everyone get convenient access to an avenue for excercise. It's much easier to convince people to get outdoors if we make it convenient for them. Not only is it great excersie, it would provide an alternate means of transportation for everyone. I've visited many countries and there seems a recurrent theme of people walking, biking, or using public transportation. I live in southern Georgia and public streets barely extend to accomodate cars, much less bycicles. A mere 30 miles in an upscale area of South Carolina, people flock from different states to walk, bike, and visit the nice vistas. I grew up in California and we at least had sidewalks, to bike, walk or run. Help!
