address the concerns of US CITIZENS WHO ARE NOW REFUGEES seeking asylum abroad

Created by G.L. on January 31, 2014

We call on the Obama Administration to publicly acknowlege that thousands of US citizens have been recognized by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) as refugees within the meaning of the 1951 Geneva Convention; and that thousands more have sought asylum, but remain unrecognized.

We further call on the Obama Administration to seek from non-governmental human rights organizations (NGOs) accurate information about the plight of US citizens who are now refugees, and the human rights abuses which have reduced them to this desperate measure.

We call upon the Obama Administration to enter into dialogue with American refugees / their chosen representatives, to better understand this issue, and the needs of American refugees as they see them.
