Address excessive noise from aftermarket vehicle exhausts and stereos

Noise from vehicles with aftermarket exhausts and high power stereos ("boom" cars) is a growing problem across the country. The Noise Control Act of 1972 was the first federal law to regulate noise and established the Office of Noise Abatement and Control (ONAC) within The EPA. The ONAC was de-funded by the Reagan administration in 1981. With the increase of noise complaints about vehicles with aftermarket exhausts and stereos, numerous states have introduced bills to ban aftermarket exhausts but this is not enough. Many citizens are assaulted in their own homes and businesses on a daily basis by these vehicles. The right to peace is much greater than any perceived right to disturb the peace. Law enforcement is needed where consideration for others is absent or never instilled.
