We need to stand behind our children, by giving them the same opportunities for outdoor exploration as previous generations. In the recent media there have been incidences of CPS and police intervening in situations where children have been allowed independence. Children need to be given opportunities for exploration and independence to grow into fully capable adults. Parents need to know that their decision to allow their children this freedom will be supported and promoted by the government and their community. Although, it is possible for these children to encounter dangerous situations, but it is highly unlikely, and by doing so they will be better equipped to deal with similar situations in the future. The world is NOT a more dangerous place, which is clear from crime statistics.
