Address the growing cost of entitlement programs and their impact on national debt

The majority of today's government spending goes to various entitlement programs; Welfare, Medicare, Medicaid etc... At the moment, this accounts for more than half of the spending (If my government and econ teachers weren't lying) and within the next two decades, it is expected to be over 70% of the national budget. Whether I have the first number right or not, the second number is the scariest, how you plan to pay everything else with only 30% of the national budget I don't know. National defense, paying anything at all on the debt, public services, even paying the white house electric bill. It sounds like we need serious entitlement reforms to the opposite direction of where they have been going, or we're going to keep digging this hole deeper.
