Address the guidelines for processing loans by lenders. Net income should be preferred over gross income.

This petition concerns the governmental guidelines for lenders to use an individual's gross income to determine their repayment ability. These guidelines allow them to use the GROSS income to make such determinations. However, the fact of the matter is, most people take home the NET income after taxes, social security, Medicaid, etc has been deducted, Holding an individual accountable for funds they have no control over is simply unreasonable and absurd. The Obama administration should look into revising these guidelines in order to help people in getting loans they could afford and in mortgage modifications to enable them keep their homes.
