Permanently reinstate the assault weapons ban. Reinstate gun-free zones in churches, all schools and state and national parks. Require background checks under all circumstances. Require a reasonable waiting period to ensure adequate time for law enforcement agencies to fulfill their responsibilities. Require the same level of licensing for guns as we do to drive a car. Reexamine concealed weapons permits and other right to carry laws to enhance the safety of all citizens. Strengthen reasonable self-defense statutes and eliminate “Stand Your Ground” laws. Ensure greater cooperation between mental health professionals and law enforcement with the end goal of curbing gun violence. Stop acquiescing to the demands of gun lobbyists and consider what is best for all the people.
