Address the Issue of "Pork Barrel" Spending in Congressional Legislation

Created by S.E. on January 20, 2013

This petition seeks to address the issue of "Pork barrel" spending that is rampant within almost all legislation that Congress passes. It is an issue with Congressmen and women on all sides of the poliical aisle, where they add in additional unrelated funding into legislation that serves either only their constituents or, often, an organization or company that has been "donating" to them.

We, the undersigned, ask that President Obama pushes for legislation that will make it illegal for any Congressional representative to add in funding to a bill that is unrelated to the subject of the bill. While we know this will not get rid of all "pork" spending, it will certainly serve to reduce the amount of it added.

Please help us reduce unnecessary spending on the part of Congress.
