Address joblessness, outsourcing, and civil rights violations by removing the Chinese monument from our National Mall

Created by L.Y. on September 30, 2011

The monument to our beloved Dr. Martin Luther King was created by a government contracted artist from China, a country with a reprehensible history of civil rights and human rights violations against its people. The granite was quarried by slave labor—and constructed on US soil by Chinese workers. Dr. King is a national treasure. It dishonors King’s name to have a monument created by an artist famous for busts of the murderer Mao. It's a dishonor to King’s name for his monument to be presented by a country that labeled him a "reactionary running dog.” It's a dishonor to King’s name to use outsourced granite when American industry is flailing and American workers are losing jobs and homes. We Protest. Replace the statue on our National Mall. US artist. US labor. US granite!! King Is Ours.
