Jeffrey Laude, who went by the name "Jennifer", was strangled to death at an inn in Olongapo City, north of the Philippine capital Manila. The suspect, a soldier named Joseph Scott Pemberton, is currently held by the U.S. military, and the Philippines is trying to take custody of the suspect. With protests against U.S. presence there and an increasing need to support the rights of the LGBT community throughout the Philippines and the world, I, a heterosexual Filipino with American citizenship, feel that the U.S. government, specifically President Obama, should issue a statement about the killing. So here is my petition.
I petition the President to address the public about the killing of Jeffery aka Jennifer Laude and his thoughts of the situation.
