Address Lack of Consequences for Perpetrators of Elder Abuse & Neglect

Though elder abuse and neglect is a wide spread problem affecting 1 out of 10 older persons, and 1 out of 2 older persons with dementia, the consequences for perpetrators are minimal. Sentencing enhancements have been used successfully to deter other types of crime and could be a promising intervention for elder abuse. Please address the lack of consequences for perpetrators of elder abuse and neglect.
