We would appreciate a better understanding of the legality of "Always Online" digital rights management with respect to software and digital content purchasing and the attempts to clamp down on software piracy.
As of now, there is no solid universal definition of what that means or how it is to be implemented.
AODRM should not be a wholly self-regulated model as the developers and publishers so far have proven to be more interested in taking a scorched earth" policy toward protecting the right of paying customers to access the content they believed themselves to have "purchased," causing inaccessible digital content due to supply-side faults.
Paying customers should be able to access their purchased content, especially when it is purchased in a physical medium, at their convenience.
