Address the ongoing genocide in Darfur

Created by J.K. on April 27, 2015

The largest genocide of the 21st century, the Darfur genocide refers to the mass slaughter of innocent people in western Sudan which began in 2003 and continues to this day.The killings have been carried out by the government funded militia known as the Janjaweed. Very recently the United Nations announced its plans to shrink the joint peace keeping force in Darfur. In 2006 President Obama promised that he would not abandon the people of the Darfur genocide, however Sudan's government has intimidated the United States and the UN into abandoning their humanitarian mission. The United States must renew and strengthen the peacekeeping mission in Darfur (UNAMID). This dire situation must not be overlooked especially with over 400,000 deaths and 2.5 million displaced.
