address Pell Grant reform including increased funding and reinstatement of summer course coverage.

Created by J.N. on January 18, 2013

Funding for underprivileged students and the financially disadvantaged has been continually cut and Pell Grants often do not cover all expenses. Summer funding has been cut completely lengthening the amount of time to graduate or forcing cash-strapped students to pay out of pocket. Qualifying requirements are often not realistic and many students who really need help do not receive funds. A college diploma has become necessary for entry level jobs and is the only real chance to escape poverty in an ever competitive job market.
