Police corruption and brutality is on the rise in America. 52% of police say it is not unusual for an officer to turn a blind eye to improper conduct by other officers. 61% admitted they do not always report criminal violations that involve the abuse of authority by fellow officers. 67% reported that officers who report incidents of misconduct are given a cold shoulder.
The unwritten rule among police officers in the US not to report on another colleague's misconducts, or crimes make it hard to bring these officers to justice. When an officer is suspected of a crime it should not be investigated by "internal affairs"; this should be a public affair.
