address the potential of municipalities creating their own infrastructure and running the internet like a utility.

Created by A.S. on December 27, 2014

Companies such as AT&T, Verizon, and ComCast think they have the freedom to do as they please when it comes to the internet. Simply because they are the conduit through which we access the internet they think that they own the internet. Well there have been many cities that passed laws creating their own internet infrastructure and they now enjoy gigabit speeds while paying less then most of us do for our 5mbps that we are really getting instead of the 30mbps that the ISP had sold to us. Would the Obama administration in the name of innovation create a fund to support municipalities, possibly partnering companies such as google, to lay fiber optic cables. If ISP's don't give money to intel to create new internet tech then intel doesnt have the money to go and invest in new consumer tech.
