Student loan debt is the next mortgage crisis, and like the big banks in the mortgage industry, private student loan lenders like Sallie Mae are out of control. We need the government to step in and make new regulations to stop lenders from taking advantage of the unemployed with predatory fees. Students must have a path to get out from under these giant student loans that haven't resulted in income sufficient to pay them. This isn't just a problem for students, but also for parents and other cosigners that often end up paying for this debt. Doing something about this will improve the economy for all Americans as well.
