ADDRESS THE RACIST ENFORCEMENT OF "STAND YOUR GROUND" LAWS - JUSTICE FOR TRAYVON MARTIN & MARISSA ALEXANDER

Created by S.W. on July 14, 2013

We ask this administration address "stand your ground" laws. These laws are enforced in a racist manner and have made it legal for a young Black man to be murdered in Florida out of racist paranoia.

Additionally, we request a presidential pardon for Marissa Alexander, a Black woman in Florida sentenced to 20 years for firing a warning shot in a domestic violence case. No one was injured. She was denied the use of the "stand your ground" law because it was argued that she could have left the situation. George Zimmerman (who created the circumstances leading to the physical struggle between himself and his victim) also could have exited his situation, yet he was allowed to use the "stand your ground law".

The above examples clearly illustrate inequality & racism. WE DEMAND JUSTICE!
