The 2nd amendment was not made for hunting. It was put in place to prevent the government from overpowering its citizens and giving the citizens the ability to fight back in the face of tyranny.
The real problem is parenting and a decline of society. Address the real problems with the politicians that have their own agendas. Eliminate the greed, eliminate the gangs, and stop trying to take control of everyone and everything by adding more laws to give the government more power. Video games have ESRB ratings, its the parents, not games!
The act of taking away the peoples guns will cause militias to rise and quite certainly cause uncontrollable chaos if not a new age civil war. This is what the terrorist's want, US to fail internally.
