Starting in 1923 until late 80's over 7600 men, women and children were sterilized in North Carolina, without informed consent, and without knowledge of what was being done to them. estimated 1200 are alive today. Board was established to locate and compensate survivors, but has been disband on August 2, 2012. Very little is know about this practice that spread through the country during these years. Public is not aware of this Program, and so far North Carolina is the only state to come forward and apologize and attempt to compensate victims.now, the victims will have no aid, nor will this painful part of history be forgiven and these people get the help that they need.If your Office will provide funding, for the Board the survivors can be located and helped.
