Senators Charles Grassley, Sherrod Brown, Darrell Issa, & Elijah Cummings shouldn't be the only Americans to recognize the uneven effort at prosecuting cases. In one case, we have individuals among various financial institutions that caused an enormous amount of damage to the world's economy (many of these individuals probably have not felt the effects because of who they are); In the other case we have one person who, for the most part, has done good things, but made a mistake for which he owned up to.
In the first, not one of the individuals responsible for causing the financial mess is prosecuted. In the second, the prosecutors latch on to the case and throw everything at Swarts. He then commits suicide due to this overzealous pursuit of justice.
I see two different sets of rules here.
