Address the Veterans Benefits Backlog

Created by D.H. on June 28, 2013

There are currently 833,130 pending claims with 547,922 (65.8%) over 125 days for VA benefits as of 6/22/13. There are disabled, homeless men and women who have served our country in WWII, Korean, Vietnam, Gulf War, and Iraq/Afghanistan waiting months to years for VA assistance. Many veterans say that the VA benefits motto is "delay, deny, and hope that I die". As a VA healthcare employee, I live by the VA mission "To care for him who have borne the battle". It is frustrating and heartbreaking to care for veterans who are suffering and dying while awaiting VA benefits assistance. Please use presidential authority to reform the VA benefits system to expedite claims processing and assure that claims are processed accurately and appropriately. Thank you.
