Steps we encourage the Obama administration to take.
1. Advocate for Senator Tom Harkin’s Fair Minimum Wage Act and tie the raised rate to inflation.
2. Pass a Working Time Directive with paid breaks, rest of at least 11 hours in any 24 hours, restrict excessive night work, and make a default right to work no more than 48 hours per week.
3. Mandate a minimum of four weeks paid vacation per year in an effort to reduce stress and promote strong families values.
4. Fight for major public works initiatives with an emphasis on infrastructure; we must rebuild our roads, bridges, railways, and electric grid. As well as expand and create new public transit systems.
