Our economy began to decline the moment that our elected leaders weakened the backbone of our economy, the industrial and manufacturing might that made the United States the envy of the world. Now, due to naive and shortsighted legislation, companies find it fiscally sound to outsource jobs and production overseas. Consequently, the stable tax base upon which the United States relied upon, on the companies and the workers they employed, has eroded. Our elected officials, secure in the comfort of their jobs and drawing upon the largesse of lobbyists currying their favor, do not feel the pinch of their constituents.
I propose that our elected officials be constrained in pay to the lowest 10% income of their constituents to encourage an honest effort to increase our economy and their pay.
