Adjust the minimum wage to rise with the the Cost of Living or Consumer Price Index.

Created by G.W. on March 19, 2014

While the Consumer Price Index may increase, the minimum wage does not change to keep up with the cost of living.

This petition is a request for Congress to link the minimum wage to the Consumer Price Index. It would increase a workers wage to meet with the increase in the cost of living.

The federal minimum wage would be $10.74 if it had kept up with inflation over the past 40 years.

This would allow workers to continue to pay for goods and services, and trim unemployment since more consumers could afford them.
