Adjust the starting times of high schools throughout the United States to better accommodate students learning abilities

Created by J.H. on March 01, 2013

This problem of fatigue in high school students must be addressed in order to better students' education. Students are constantly complaining about how tired they are, both mentally and physically. It has been shown through many studies how their performance in school suffers because of how early their day begins. Compared to elementary and middle school students, high school students are by far the most involved with extracurricular activites such as work, heaps of homework and school events, which lead to higher stress levels. A way to release this constant stress is to begin school later so students can be more alert and better prepared for the day. A 9:00 A.M. starting time for high schools would allow for this positive change in the mind-set of students.
