Admit that the takeover of the Egyptian government by the military is a Coup against a democratically elected government. Furthermore, then act according to the very laws which are in place to dictate where we send our foreign aid money. We do not, as a rule, send aid to a government which achieved its position by a coup against a democratically elected state.
Americans deserve better than seeing their tax dollars go to a military dictatorship overseas, and have an administration trying to get out of acting the law by saying "We can't say whether or not a coup occurred" (paraphrased).
I understand the administration thinks it is in the best interest of the American people to continue sending money, but it is simply not allowed. It is tax payers money the administration is sending.
